Deputy Sheriff

Deputy Sheriffs are responsible for protecting the life and property of citizens through the enforcement of the law and through the investigation of felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses. 


Sworn Deputy Sheriff applicants must be presently in a Police Academy or possess an Ohio Peace Officer Certification, at least 21 years old, possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license, and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. 


Lateral/Experienced sworn officers are encouraged to apply.  Starting pay rate will be based upon years of experience.


The pay rate for the Deputy Sheriff position ranges from $31.79- $41.95

Civilian Dispatcher

Civilian Dispatchers must have excellent communications skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with the public as well as other law enforcement personnel.  Dispatchers must have the ability to learn the basic operation of the Sheriff's 800Mhz radio system and computer-aided dispatch systems.  The ability to obtain certification as a Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) operator is mandatory.


Dispatcher applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Dispatcher applicants must be able to keyboard at least fifty words per minute.

 

The hourly pay rate for the Civilian Dispatcher position ranges from $22.96 - $32.46.

Lateral/Experienced Civilian Dispatcher

The MCSO is now hiring Civilian Dispatchers with 18 months or more experience.  Dispatchers must have the ability to learn the basic operation of the Sheriff's 800Mhz radio system and computer-aided dispatch systems.  The ability to obtain certification as a Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) operator is mandatory.


Experienced Candidates may be required to take a written test.


The pay rate for Lateral Civilian Dispatchers ranges from $25.09- $32.46.

Corrections Officer

Corrections Officers are responsible for ensuring the care and welfare of inmates confined within the Jail while using proper safety methods and techniques. 


Corrections Officers must possess the ability to complete the State of Ohio approved basic corrections course successfully.  Applicants for this non-sworn position must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and must be able to pass a Physical Agility Test.

Corrections Officer Working

Lateral/Experienced Corrections Officer

The MCSO is now hiring Corrections Officers with 2 years or more experience.  Candidates for the Corrections Officer position who possess a Ohio Peace Officer Training Council Corrections Office Basic Training Certificate and have 2 years or more experience working at a pre-sentence facility (Ohio County Jail) are eligible to apply.  


Experienced Candidates will not be required to take a written test or fitness test.  If the Candidate is eligible to be hired, starting hourly wage is $27.06


The pay rate for Lateral Corrections Officers ranges from $27.06- $32.34.
